A BluePrint Network Standard

Audit support included on every completed study.

If the IRS or a tax advisor questions the study's classifications, methodology, cost allocations, or supporting documentation, BluePrint stands behind the study it delivered — the specialist team that prepared it provides the technical response, and BluePrint coordinates the process so clients and CPAs are never left chasing answers.

Your engagement letter is with BluePrint — one accountable platform. Standing behind the work they prepare is a requirement of network membership for every specialist.

The team that did the work responds

Technical questions go to the specialist team that prepared the study — the people who made the classifications and built the allocations, not a support desk.

Built to be questioned

Network studies trace every classification to a legal basis and reconcile every dollar to total basis. The documentation is the defense.

BluePrint coordinates

BluePrint manages communication between the client, the CPA, and the specialist firm — so the response is organized, timely, and complete.

What's covered

Audit support applies to the cost segregation study itself:

Asset classifications and depreciation life selections
Cost allocation methodology and reconciliation to basis
Engineering approach and supporting calculations
Report substantiation and supporting documentation
Form 3115 workpaper for lookback studies
Coordination with your CPA throughout the inquiry

Audit support covers the delivered study. It does not include unrelated tax return preparation, legal or Tax Court representation, penalty reimbursement, or defense of tax positions outside the delivered study unless separately agreed in your engagement letter.

Why this matters

Cost segregation studies are frequently examined — not because they're wrong, but because they move real money. The difference between a study that holds up and one that doesn't is usually documentation quality and the willingness of the preparing firm to stand behind it.

Some firms sell an “audit defense” add-on for $500–$2,000 per year. Others hand over a report, cash the check, and disappear if the IRS calls. Neither is acceptable in the BluePrint network.

Every specialist in the BluePrint network is required to stand behind the studies they complete. Firms that can't commit to that standard don't join the network.

How the process works

  1. 1
    A question comes in

The IRS sends a notice, or your CPA raises a technical question about the study. You or your CPA forward it through BluePrint.

  2. 2
    BluePrint routes it

We identify the specialist team that prepared the study, define the scope of the inquiry, and get the right people engaged.

  3. 3
    The specialist team responds

The preparing team drafts the technical response, grounded in the workpapers and documentation from the original study — and BluePrint stands behind it.

  4. 4
    Everyone stays in the loop

BluePrint coordinates between the client, the CPA, and the specialist until the inquiry is resolved — no one is left chasing answers.

Every completed study. Every specialist. The same standard.

Audit support is a condition of the network — not a separate product and not an upsell.
